What is a horror game?

A horror game is built to frighten: threats the player cannot fully see, fight or escape, and an atmosphere that keeps tension high. On Steam it ranges from co-op scares like Lethal Company to card games like Inscryption.

Horror on Steam comes in three shapes: screaming with friends on voice chat (Lethal Company), a story best played without spoilers (Inscryption), and survival against the body's own needs (Green Hell).
