The Forgotten City

Modern Storyteller · Dear Villagers

Steam artwork — The Forgotten City
Quick read

A Roman city where one person's sin turns everyone to gold. The Forgotten City resets the day when that happens, and you keep the conversations. The loop is an interrogation you return to.

What kind of game is it?

A first-person investigation with dialogue trees and no combat you need to win. Twenty-odd residents each hide something; the Golden Rule collapses the day as soon as any of them acts on it. You come back knowing what they will say, which lets you open a conversation on the answer instead of the question.

Who is it for?

For players who keep returning because they finally know what they will say.

What makes it different?

It started as a Skyrim mod and kept the part that made it famous: the loop is a dialogue tool. Where most time-loop games ask you to route through a space, this one asks you to route through people, and the multiple endings turn on which reading of the rule you accept.
