Quick read

Spelunky 2 is a roguelike platformer: you dive through randomly built caves on the Moon, grab treasure and try to survive traps, animals and your own mistakes, alone or with up to four players.

What kind of game is it?

Each level is assembled from hand-made pieces, with an exit at the bottom and danger everywhere in between. Every system reacts to every other: a thrown rock sets off an arrow trap, and a shopkeeper answers theft with a shotgun. Dying sends the run back to the first cave; what carries over is what the player has learned.

Who is it for?

For players who laugh when a clumsy jump sets off a chain of traps that ends the run.

What makes it different?

Traps, creatures and items all follow the same physics, so the funniest deaths and the best escapes come from the same rules. Secret areas reward players who know the caves by heart.
