Smaller games found on Steam
These share a lot with Slay the Spire on Steam, but Shypiard has not written their profile yet.
What makes it distinctive?
Turn-based card combat on a branching map. Each character starts with a weak deck; after every fight you choose one of three cards, and relics change the rules for the rest of the run. Enemies show their next move, so each turn is a small puzzle about how much to block and how much to hit.
Who plays Slay the Spire?
For players who enjoy deciding which card to skip as much as which card to take.
Fantasy: Optimization / Mastery. Fantasy is our reading of the game, separate from the Steam review score.
A match rises when it shares the way you play: the loop, the mechanics, the session. A shared mood alone does not put a game at the top. If too little is known, the row is left off.
How to read this list
Monster Train keeps the card climb and adds three floors to defend. Balatro keeps the pick-a-card rhythm but scores poker hands. Inscryption turns the deckbuilder into a mystery. Wildfrost places cards on a grid and lets the round resolve.
FAQ
Is this a Steam tag clone list?
No. Tags are one input. Mechanics, fantasy, progression and session structure are classified by Shypiard. If a signal is missing it is skipped.
Why is a famous game missing?
Either Shypiard has not profiled it yet, or it shares too little with Slay the Spire to be a fair match. The list is never padded to reach a round number.
